Mandy
Parent Counsellor

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi, I’m Mandy – a chai-loving mother to three children and one mini Groodle named Pepper. A self-proclaimed square peg in a round hole, I’m a K-drama enthusiast who always has one- too-many projects on the go and a serious love for cruising!
With 25 years of experience supporting children and families, my path has taken me through diverse roles in the education sector, including teaching at a National Autistic Society (NAS) school in the UK, Montessori schools, forest schooling, and most recently, as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and counsellor. I truly believe every twist and turn in my career has shaped me into the counsellor I am today.
I bring personal lived experience to my practice – navigating life with ADHD (myself) and autism (in my family). This experience is invaluable, particularly when it comes to
understanding the challenges of routines, transitions, appointments, and those meltdowns over things like a lava lamp with flat batteries! It’s these real, human moments that often spark the deepest “uh-huh” moments, helping clients feel truly seen, heard, and validated. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to support families in this work – it’s an honour to share
this journey with you.

Therapeutic approach

I focus on creating a supportive, nurturing environment that feels safe, attuned, and
empowering. My approach is truly integrative—a tapestry of modalities, including polyvagal theory, trauma-informed care, attachment therapy, and my deep appreciation for contemporary psychotherapy.
I bring a playful, creative energy to my work, allowing my intuition to guide me while always prioritising emotional safety and co-regulation. This leads to sessions that feel light, inspiring, and like a beautiful, shared journey.

My qualifications

Master of Counselling, Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Bachelor of
Teaching (Early Childhood) and AMI Montessori Diploma (Assistants to Infancy –
Birth to 3 years)

What helps you feel regulated

Connecting with water – whether it’s floating in a magnesium pool, the ocean or going for a ‘SUP’ on the lake – it’s like ‘coming home’… but this is the ideal – and let’s face it, we can’t carry the ocean in our back pocket – though, I do wonder how there is any sand left at the beach - when you look inside my car! I tend to co-regulate with my adorable mini Groodle, Pepper – we are so attuned.
I am all about connection – the soul connection and felt sense! In the absence of oceans and Pepper’s paws, practicing pranayama (breathwork) and visualising favourite places helps me to feel regulated.
